The Certified Nursing Assistant program at Baltimore City Community College is designed to equip students with the essential skills and knowledge needed to excel in both long-term and acute care settings. The curriculum includes 104 hours of classroom instruction covering nursing theory, client care skills, and medical terminology. This is complemented by 40 hours of hands-on clinical training and 16 hours dedicated to preparation for the Geriatric Nursing Assistant Certification exam. The program meets the Maryland Board of Nursing’s standards and includes modules on nursing assistant theory and clinical practice.



To enroll, students must complete a Medical Terminology course, provide proof of various immunizations, and pass a math and reading assessment. Additional requirements include a recent Tuberculosis test or chest X-ray, proof of Hepatitis B vaccination or waiver, and successful completion of federal and state background checks. The program requires 100% attendance for the clinical component and students must adhere to specific dress and equipment requirements during this phase.
